Binna Burra Dreaming Vln-Pno Abridged

$29.95

‘Binna Burra Dreaming’ Abridged version  Duration: 4:50  This is a shorter version of Margaret Brandman’s contemporary classical concert work for Violin with Piano. It is suitable for Australian high school examination requirements as the duration is just under five minutes.

The title of the work refers to the aboriginal place name for ‘Where the beech tree grows”. The Binna Burra national park is located in the state of Queensland in Australia.

This descriptive single-movement work is through-composed although it falls into several distinct sections. The work begins with the didgeridoo-like Binna Burra motif played by the piano, answered by the haunting violin melody which is in turn followed by the piano figure representing the breeze through the beech trees.    As you are transported on this musical journey through the ancient forest, the slow and delicate sections using ethereal sounds, may conjure up the ancient spirits, while in the bravura sections and lively sections with contemporary rhythms, you may imagine the sounds of the myriad of plant, bird and animal life in the forest area.
A recording of the full version of this work by Czech performers Vít Mužík, concert master of the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra on violin, and pianist Lucie Kaucká  is available on Margaret Brandman’s SENSATIONS album (nv6041).  Purchase Sensations album here:
